Cappella della Madonna di VitaletaCappella della Madonna di VitaletaThe Chapel of Our Lady of Vitaleta is a small sacred building is located on a hilltop in the village Vitaleta on the road that connects San Quirico d'Orcia to Pienza.

From it comes the statue of the Madonna attributed to Andrea della Robbia, now in the church dedicated to her in the center of SanQurico, the statue would be purchased in a shop in Florence in 1553.
There are traces of the chapel for the first time in a document dated 1590. The present appearance is the result of restructuring by architect Giuseppe Partini in 1884, inspired by models sixteenth.
The Chapel of Our Lady of Vitaleta was placed under protection as a UNESCO heritage site.
First photo taken with the new Pentax K1 and 24-70 dfa lens. Cappella della Madonna di Vitaleta, San Quirico D'Orcia. I am amazed so far by the dynamic range having loaded the photo into lightroom. The tilt screen absolutely excellent and essential in landscape photography. I never felt I had to bend down and therefor assisted in my final composition. Unfortunately the AF did not perform to my needs in low light conditions, so i was forced to use my head torch to light up the foreground to assist in focus. Also to note, apart from the splendid resolution, is the sharpness of the lens. Having read the mixed reviews I was expecting a lot less, but i am very impressed by the results. I really wanted to push the K1 to its limits on this visit to Val D'Orcia this week, and although the weather wasn't as dramatic as I would have preferred I still managed to put the combo under some challenging conditions.

Looking forward to analising further photos taken on this trip to Val D'Orcia and performing a better judgement for a more in depth review of the camera and lens.
